The Merry Ploughboys were the anchor band in Johnny Foxes in Dublin when the Hooley nights began back in 1990. The nine years spent by the Merry Ploughboys at Johnny Foxes began while the band were students at UCD (University College Dublin).
The band's time at Johnny Foxes came to a close when they moved back down the mountain to set up Taylors Irish Night.
The end of the Merry Ploughboys nine year stint at Johnny Foxes coincided with the bands 10 year anniversary which was celebrated at Vicar Street in Dublin.
Since January 2007, the Merry Ploughboys have been performing exclusively at the Merry Ploughboy Pub.
